Maxton Fox and Harold Park Tramsheds
City of Sydney Mayor, Clover Moore, had a goal to turn the Harold Park Tramsheds in Glebe into an example of how to sustainably develop a region to support both new and established local communities. Tramsheds is one of Sydney’s most exciting new food destinations, and features 12 innovative food providers and seven community retailers. Developer Mirvac approached Maxton Fox to provide bespoke designs and fabrications for an industrial style of furniture featuring a raw, structural, and recycled aesthetic.
In-house metal manufacturing
Maxton Fox utilised its in-house metal manufacturing capabilities to fabricate a range of tables and cantilevered / hideaway stools on large share style benches with metal, sheet metal, and aluminium. Customised machine components allowed Maxton Fox to meet the design and functional requirements of the fit out with precision and strength.
Creating beauty from recycled timber
Taking advantage of Australia’s availability of rich recycled timber, Maxton Fox added to its metal tables and cantilevered / hideaway stools on large share style benches by integrating reclaimed Victorian Blackbutt timber. Maxton Fox machined a range of timber products in preparation for craftsmen to finish them to the best detail, including metal and timber plant boxes to showcase local flora.
In 2016, Maxton Fox finished its contribution to the Harold Park Tramsheds. It’s ability to provide highly customised fabricated metal, sheet metal, and aluminium coupled with its proficiency in utilising recycled wood to create a raw, structural, and recycled aesthetic helped bring together food and drink communities across the diverse Drummoyne, Gladesville, Haberfield, Annandale, and Camperdown suburbs, and create one of the most exciting new food destinations in Sydney.
